How to use your seasonal map

A short guide to getting useful patterns without turning this into a chore.

Why track by season

Many people blame themselves for low energy in certain months. A seasonal map shows that the dip often repeats every year. Once you see the pattern, you can plan around it instead of fighting it. Students use this to schedule exams and breaks. Freelancers use it to balance client work. Office workers use it to request flexible weeks before a known slump.

What the ratings mean

Energy is physical. How tired or awake you feel. Mood is emotional. How up or down you feel. Focus is mental. How well you can stay on one task. These three often move together, but not always. You can have high energy and low focus on a restless day, or low energy and steady mood on a calm one.

Common mistakes

Logging only bad days skews the map. Try to log normal days too. Skipping a week is fine, but avoid logging only when you feel extreme. Do not compare your numbers to anyone else. This is your baseline, not a score. If you change your rating scale mid-year, the pattern can break. Pick a meaning for each number and stick with it.

Example patterns

A student might see high focus in March and April, then a dip during May exams, and low energy in August. A freelancer might see a creative peak in April and September, with a money-stress dip in January. An office worker might see steady summer energy and a winter mood drop that lifts in March. The presets in the tracker show these shapes.

How to read the map

Look for clusters, not single days. One bad week in June does not mean June is always bad. Wait until you have at least three entries per month before drawing conclusions. The heatmap shows warm months (higher scores) and cool months (lower scores). Use the Plan section to schedule hard tasks in warm months and rest in cool ones.

When to trust the pattern

Patterns are more reliable after 60 to 90 days of entries. If your life changes a lot (new job, move, health event), the old pattern may shift. Keep logging through the change to see the new shape. If you feel persistently low for weeks, or cannot function, this map is not enough. Talk to a health professional.

Scenario walkthrough

Imagine you have a big project due. You check your map and see that March and April are usually your warm months. You schedule the hardest work there. You see that January is usually cool. You plan admin tasks and rest for that month. You tell your team in advance. The project feels less like a crash and more like a steady climb.

Assumptions and limits

This tracker assumes your ratings are honest and roughly consistent. It does not adjust for weather, time zone, or daylight saving. It does not send data anywhere. It does not diagnose anything. It is a mirror, not a verdict. Use it to ask better questions about your year, not to label yourself.
